I attended Mitchell High School in Ledger, North Carolina. While there I was an "A" student who was involved in many extracurricular activities: FBLA, FCA, and sports. I played varsity basketball and volleyball for four years, and during my freshman year, my basketball team won the 2A state championship: one of the highlights of my high school career!
I graduated in June of 2006 with my high school diploma. After graduating, I enrolled at Mayland Community College where I took general education courses for two years before leaving the country for six months for mission work.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Mars Hill College. I majored in English while gaining a teaching certification. I did my student teaching at Mountain Heritage High School in Burnsville, NC. After completing coursework and student teaching, I graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in English while holding a North Carolina teaching license.
I just recently earned my Masters in Secondary Education from East Tennessee State University. This opportunity allowed me to study in depth ways to make learning engaging and productive.
